Joe Biden Protesters: Shovel-Ready

Actual Protesters
The Des Moines Register reports that protestors with hard hats and shovels showed up today at a Biden rally in Council Bluffs, IA.  The protesters appeared to be responding to Biden's remarks reported here on Tuesday when he said:
"This is deadly earnest, man. This is deadly earnest," Biden said. "How they can justify--how they can justify--raising taxes when the middle class has been buried the last four years... How in Lord's name..."
Not Actual Protester
The shovels were not the only visual aid used by the protesters.  The Register also reports:
A man dressed in a pink rabbit costume who declined to share his name said he’s the “Deficit Bunny” because “the deficit just keeps growing and growing and growing.”
I particularly like "who declined to share his name."  Anti-Biden protesters aren't afraid to look silly for a good cause, but they're not stupid.

The Middle Class: Shovel-Ready

Daniel Halper at the Weekly Standard reports that Biden, in his own inimitable way, has succinctly put Barack Obama's first term as President in perspective:

Biden:  "This is deadly earnest, man. This is deadly earnest," Biden said. "How they can justify--how they can justify--raising taxes when the middle class has been buried the last four years... How in Lord's name..."

Early in his Presidency, Barack Obama said:
Through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, "we will be investing $28 billion in our highways, money that every one of our 50 states can start using immediately to put people back to work," Obama said. "I can say that 14 days after I signed our Recovery Act into law, we are seeing shovels hit the ground."
I guess we should have asked a few more questions about what the shovels were doing.

Flexibility

From ABC News:  This exchange between Russian President Dmitri Medvedev and President Obama caught by a hot mic this weekend in South Korea is likely to end up on a campaign T-shirt like Joe Biden's Obamacare hot-mic comment from two years ago, but this time for the Republicans and not the President:
At the tail end of his 90 minute meeting with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev Monday, President Obama said that he would have “more flexibility” to deal with controversial issues such as missile defense, but incoming Russian President Vladimir Putin needs to give him “space.”
The exchange was picked up by microphones as reporters were let into the room for remarks by the two leaders.
The exchange:
President Obama: On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space.
President Medvedev: Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you…
President Obama: This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.
President Medvedev: I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.
If the Republicans have anything to say about it, President Obama will have more flexibility after January 20, 2013 than he knows what to do with.
